| KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS Keyboard shortcuts allow you execute commands, access menu items or input special symbols directly from the keyboard. MS Word has a large number of built-in keyboard shortcuts. The Wordprocessing Overlay allows you to access these functions without having to memorize them all. For some computer users, this is the fastest and most efficient way to operate their computer. No need to stop typing and switch to the mouse to perform these functions from a menu. To use keyboard shortcuts, you need to press and hold down one or more function keys at the same time you type an alphanumeric key (letter, number or punctuation key). For example, pressing the Control key and the K key at the same time tells the system to create a hyperlink in the current document. |

OTHER FUNCTIONS The keyboard also uses "deadkeys" for functions like accents. First you press the accent mark deadkey. Nothing you can see on the screen happens (which is why these are called "deadkeys"). However, when you follow up a deadkey by typing a letter, the letter appears with the deadkey accent attached. Remembering all of these shorts is not easy, especially if you don't use them all the time. The Word Processing keyboard does not change any software functions. It merely shows you where the shortcut keys are located. The chart below shows the Keyboard Shortcuts included in this product. |
